The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) is a UK-based organisation whose main role is to operate the application process for British universities

The Challenge

• UCAS was not satisfied with their existing digital learning platform and provider.

• Low utilisation rates, unhelpful customer service and higher than necessary costs.

• Platform was not configured to embed a learning culture.

• Feedback on the system and peoples experiences had not been good, which led to poor uptake.

What we did

• We migrated the platform to Moodle (iLearn), and refreshed the design and built new functionality (such as quick access navigation)

• We aligned the platform with compliance, induction and “Centres of Excellence” requirements.

• We expanded the content to include a number of new engaging eModules, including a section on Leadership and Management.

The results

• Increase platform utilisation by over 70%.

• Saved UCAS over £10k per annum.

• Over 95% of staff have completed compliance modules.

• iLearn is now a growing part of UCAS’ learning culture.

• Increased access and flow around the site for users.

• Increased positive feedback from a recent L&D survey.

• Enables a platform for future digital growth.
