Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship

Our “Executive” programme is an 18-24 month process aimed at senior leaders. It takes participants through a pragmatic process to shape them into a contemporary leader, and delivers against the Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship Standard. Participants can secure an internationally recognised qualification from CMI and Chartered Fellow status.

Overview

Who is it for?

  • Those suited to the Senior Leader Apprenticeship will have senior management responsibility, and this can include formal governance or director responsibilities, and lead, manage and direct organisations with responsibility for those in senior positions/ and significant budgets.
  • They may be responsible for providing a clear sense of purpose and driving strategic intent, and identifying longer-term opportunities and risks.
  • Through inclusive leadership, they are responsible for developing ethical, innovative and supportive cultures with the ability to deliver results.

Entry requirements

  • Lived in the UK/EU for at least 3 years
  • Commitment to learning at least 4-6 hours per week (included in the 20% off-the-job training)
  • Hold or be willing to complete level 2 functional skills in English and Mathematics
  • Attain at least level 2 in a functional skills initial assessment

What does the programme cover?

We take participants through an iterative leadership and management development process. This starts by looking at how to lead themselves and others, and then focuses on galvanising teams and stakeholders around delivering outcomes.

Disciplines

The disciplines have been shaped by the latest standards for managers and leaders and are designed to develop knowledge, skills and behaviours.

Personal Development

D6/714. Support leaders to understand approaches to personal and professional development. Reflect on their own personal, interpersonal and professional competencies and behaviours to lead strategically. Opportunity to reflect on own performance and develop a meaningful PDP.

Strategic Leadership

(D1/D2/D5/D12/701) Equip leaders with an in-depth understanding of strategic leadership within an organisational context. Explore the complexities of the role and the theoretical perspectives, approaches, behaviours and skills which can enhance their professional practice.

Optimising Performance

(D7/702) Develop an in-depth understanding of how to effectively lead and develop people. Explore the influence and impact of leadership theories, culture, wellbeing, development and design, policy and strategy. Propose a leadership and development strategy which optimises performance.

Building Relationships

(D8/D9) Explores reporting to the Board (or relevant governance/management structure) on the progress of their operational activities towards achieving business goals; and cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships with key senior internal and external stakeholders to influence key decision makers as appropriate.

Communications

(D10) Explores shaping the approach to external communications for their area of responsibility and ensure it aligns with any wider organisational communications strategy.

Strategy & Innovation

(D11/D3/704) Enable leaders to develop, plan and influence an organisation’s strategic direction through the development of a meaningful strategy. Critique the factors which drive the development of organisational strategy and appraise approaches to successfully develop strategy.

Finance

(D4/706) Understand the scope, complexity and role of Finance within an organisational context. Know how to critically assess methods for analysing financial data and information required to make strategic decisions. Equip leaders to be more confident in their understanding of the Finance function.
