Leader/Supervisor Apprenticeship

Our “Aspire” programme is a 12-18-month process aimed at new or aspiring managers. It takes participants through a pragmatic process to shape them into a contemporary leader and manager, and delivers against the Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor apprenticeship standard. Participants can secure an internationally recognised qualification from CMI and Foundation Chartered Manager status.

Overview

Who is it for?

  • A team leader/supervisor is a first line management role, with operational/project responsibilities or responsibility for managing a team to deliver a clearly defined outcome.
  • They provide direction, instructions and guidance to ensure the achievement of set goals.
  • Key responsibilities are likely to include supporting, managing and developing team members, managing projects, planning and monitoring workloads and resources, delivering operational plans, resolving problems, and building relationships internally and externally.

Entry requirements

  • Lived in the UK/EU for at least 3 years
  • Commitment to learning at least 4-6 hours per week (included in the 20% off-the-job training)
  • Hold or be willing to complete level 2 functional skills in English and Mathematics
  • Attain at least level 2 in a functional skills initial assessment

What does the programme cover?

We take participants through an iterative leadership and management development process. This starts by looking at how to lead themselves and others, and then focuses on galvanising teams and stakeholders around delivering outcomes.

10 disciplines

The 10 disciplines have been shaped by the latest standards for managers and leaders and are designed to develop knowledge, skills and behaviours.

Leading People

Provides participants with a knowledge of leadership styles, how to lead different teams, how to improve performance, the importance of organisational culture, and equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Provides participants with the skills to communicate organisational vision and goals, facilitate high performance working and support team through change.

Managing People

Provides participants with a knowledge of how to manage multiple and remote teams, improve team performance and recruit staff members. It will also provide participants with the skills to manage team performance and talent.

Building Relationships

Provides participants with an understanding of relationship management, collaborative working and conflict management. It will also provide participants with the skills to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Communication

Provides participants with a knowledge of interpersonal skills and how to apply different forms and techniques of communication. It will also provide participants with the skills needed to effectively communicate in a range of situations in a number of different formats.

Operational Management

Provides participants with a knowledge of management models, continuous improvement, management systems, change management, use of technology and data security. It will also provide participants with skills to implement an operational plan, manage change, demonstrate commercial awareness and create management reports.

Project Management and Finance

Provides participants with the knowledge and skills to solve problems and make decisions. Provides participants with a knowledge of financial management, setting and maintaining budgets and financial forecasting. It will also provide participants with skills needed to set, manage and review a budget.

Self-Awareness and Management

Provides participants with the knowledge and skills to self-reflect, understanding emotional intelligence and learning styles. Provides participants with the knowledge and skills to manage their time and plan their personal development.

Problem Solving and Decision Making

Provides participants with the knowledge and skills to solve problems and make decisions.
