Accipio + Sport England: Safeguarding Code

Totara | Learning platform

Ensuring safeguarding in sport.

Sport England is a non-departmental public body under the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. They are working towards an active nation where everyone feels able to do sport and physical activity, regardless of their age, background or gender. They chose Accipio to implement a Totara-based site for their new Safeguarding Code.

The Challenge

Sport England wanted to develop a Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts to recognise clubs or providers in England that have reached and maintained good safeguarding standards. The scheme was formulated to empower parents/carers and educational establishments to make informed decisions when selecting a club or provider for their children, young people or adults in their care.

What we did

We worked with Sport England and partners to develop the Safeguarding Code site using Totara as a base. Key features included:

  • A site that manages the end-to-end application process for clubs
  • An interactive map that shows which clubs have achieved the code.

The results

So far, 100s of clubs with tens of thousands of active members, have already registered and achieved the Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts. Feedback has been very positive and we understand safeguarding has been improved across clubs that have registered.
